Here’s a breakdown of the best Wii games of 2010. If you’re looking for Nintendo Wii games to give as gifts this holiday season, this Wii gift guide will get you on the right track.

KIRKY'S EPIC YARN

Kirby is back and better than ever. In this adorable adventure, Kirby accidentally opens a portal to a magical world made of yarn (it’s called Patch Land and it’s governed by the Yarn Wizard) by eating a tomato. Kirby then has to work his way through different foes to stitch the fractured Patch Land back together. It sounds a little farfetched, sure, but the addictive gameplay will keep you coming back to Epic Yarn for more. Plus, the napping yarn bears and smiling felt suns work to crank up the cute factor, adding to the appeal.

NBA JAM

Boom-shaka-laka! NBA Jam has been resurrected and ported to the Wii. While keeping the spirit of the original game intact, EA has revamped the classic and added motion control. The cartoony nature of this frenetic jam fest stirs up a lot of nostalgia. With a title that resides in the hearts and minds of so many gamers, we’re impressed by the attention to detail EA put into the game and the levels of unlockable extras is a very cool addition to the game. We can’t get enough of playing as President Obama.

SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2

Yoshi and Mario team up to explore new worlds and battle new enemies. A polished and robust experience, the game builds on the ideas of spherical navigation and gravitational pull introduced in SUPER MARIO GALAXY. If you love collecting and colorful worlds, SMG 2 is near perfection. Plus, it’s Mario! Nothing says Nintendo like Mario.

GOLDEN EYE 007

The game that captured the hearts and thumbs of gamers everywhere has been reimagined for the Wii. Over ten years ago, the original GOLDEN EYE 007 became the benchmark for multiplayer action. Even though Pierce Brosnan has been replaced with the beefier Daniel Craig, Bond fans will be delighted by the attention to detail and authenticity of the game. The new GoldenEye Wii is a solid shooter for Wii owners, providing Bond-grade thrills and spills.

DISNEY EPIC MONKEY

If you’ve ever wondered what lay behind Mickey Mouse’s shifty eyes, now you'll have the chance to find out. From the mind of videogame great Warren Spector, comes Disney Epic Mickey. It’s a dark take on the Disney canon and from what we’ve seen so far, Epic Mickey looks like a truly twisted adventure. This is not your smiling, tourist-friendly Mickey. This is a Mickey with soul, offering a different perspective on the House of Mouse.

TATSUNOKO VS CAPCOM: Ultimate all Stars

If you like fighting games and weird Japanese cartoon characters, you’ll love Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. The Wii isn’t normally thought of as a fighting game console – that’s usually left to the big boys – but this Wii exclusive is sure to satiate your need to kick some virtual butt. Featuring a full slate of classic Capcom characters and new faces from the Tatsunoko series, it’s one of those accessible fighting game titles available.

MONSTER HUNTER TRI

The formally Sony-centric Monster Hunter series made its way to the Wii this year, much to the delight of Nintendophiles. This action RPG hybrid will have your running around collecting resources, crafting weapons and, of course, hunting. Monster Hunter Tri features exciting underwater battles against various creatures and another highlight of this iteration is the ability to play online. MHT great game to dig your teeth into that will help you pass the hours this holiday season.
